Founded in 2012 by Laura Passalacqua, Francesco Taviani, and Jacopo Volpi, Studio Lievito operates through an interdisciplinary approach that intersects product design, spatial interventions, interiors, and material research. The studio combines conceptual rigor with a strong sensitivity to craftsmanship and cultural heritage, exploring contemporary design through material experimentation and a refined narrative approach.
Since its debut at Salone Satellite during Milan Design Week 2012, Studio Lievito has been invited to participate in key national and international design events, including Designboom Mart in Tokyo, Operae design festival in Turin, Biennale di Venezia Architettura 2025 and EDIT Napoli. It was selected for the "Under 35" program by Triennale Design Museum in 2017 and represented Italian design at the Italian Design Day in Algiers in 2018.
The studio collaborates with Italian and international brands such as Opinion Ciatti, Officinanove, Pibamarmi, JCP Universe, UpGroup, Boralevi, Chroma, MaVoix, Styl’Editions, and Japanese designer Akira Minagawa. It also curates creative and artistic direction projects for fashion brands and cultural institutions. Limited-edition works are represented by Galerie Philia and are available on platforms including Artemest and Pamono.
Education plays a central role in the studio’s mission. Studio Lievito teaches in Italian universities and academies—among them the University of Florence, the Academy of Fine Arts of Perugia, and the MADE Program in Syracuse—conducting workshops, lectures, and research focused on craftsmanship, material processes, and the reactivation of intangible heritage.
Studio Lievito continues to develop a design language rooted in cultural memory and material awareness, contributing to the contemporary discourse on the value of craftsmanship within today’s design landscape. - Who are you?
