What we are looking for

We are looking for snack concepts that integrate product and identity into a coherent and distinctive system.
Proposals should develop a contemporary consumption experience, defining format, positioning, and visual language, with the aim of creating a recognizable and relevant product for the target audience.
The snack can be sweet or savory and may be conceived either as a single product or as a system that can be declined into multiple variants.

Guidelines

To ensure the proper development of your projects, please carefully consider the following guidelines:

Project type
You are invited to propose a concept for a packaged snack, either sweet or savory, designed for practical and contemporary consumption.
The project should include both the definition of the product and the development of its related branding, including naming, visual identity, and packaging concept.
The snack will be intended for everyday and informal consumption moments such as breaks, on-the-go consumption, social activities, or leisure time.
To view some examples of products currently on the market that are consistent with the project brief, please refer to the Inspiration section of the contest.

Visual appearance
The visual appearance of the snack and its packaging should be consistent with the product positioning and the target audience, communicating quality, contemporaneity, and recognizability.
Proposals should define a clear and distinctive visual language capable of making the product immediately identifiable and appealing within its consumption context.

Dimensions and format
The snack format should be consistent with practical and immediate consumption, favoring single-serving solutions or formats that are easily shareable and compatible with retail distribution.

Production technologies and materials
Concepts should be plausible from a production standpoint, considering typical processes used in the food and packaging industries. A detailed level of engineering is not required, but the proposal should be credible and realistic.

Target
The product should be designed for a broad audience of young consumers (15–40 years old), characterized by dynamic lifestyles and a growing interest in enjoyable and balanced consumption experiences.
The target includes teenagers and young adults looking for snacks capable of combining taste, enjoyment, and attention to well-being, without sacrificing practicality and immediacy. Proposals should be relevant for everyday and informal consumption moments, with a contemporary and accessible language capable of communicating a satisfying and balanced experience.

15–17 years old
Snacks are mainly consumed as a quick break during the day, for example at school or in the afternoon. Preference for sweet, practical, and immediate products that are easy to consume on the go.

18–25 years old
Peak consumption occurs in the afternoon and during social moments. Strong interest in innovative snacks, with growing attention toward plant-based/healthy solutions and products perceived as more balanced and contemporary.

26–40 years old
Snacking becomes more structured and often integrated into the daily routine as a moment of pause or a “fourth meal.” Interest grows in savory products and in snacks that combine taste, quality ingredients, and nutritional value.

Ingredients
Consumers between the ages of 15 and 40 are showing increasing attention toward simple, natural, and recognizable ingredients, favoring clean label products with few components and without additives or added sugars. There is strong interest in high-protein ingredients (such as whey, soy, pea, and legumes), functional elements, and so-called superfoods, including chia seeds, spirulina, kefir, turmeric, and ginger, appreciated for benefits related to energy, digestion, and general well-being.
Interest in fermented ingredients and nutritional solutions supporting gut health is also growing. In terms of flavor, more daring and contemporary profiles are emerging, such as sweet-spicy combinations (“swicy”) and spicy or citrus notes. In general, consumers are looking for snacks capable of combining pleasure, nutritional functionality, and quality ingredients.

Branding and Packaging
The project should include the development of the snack brand, including the proposal of a name, the definition of the product’s personality, values, and visual language, with the goal of creating a coherent and recognizable system.
Proposals should clearly express the positioning of the snack, building a coherent communication system capable of connecting with the target audience.
The packaging should be designed as an integral part of the consumption experience, contributing to product communication and including ease of use, clarity in the presentation of information, and overall coherence between the product and its visual language.

Provide detailed descriptions and up to 5 images to effectively present your projects. Images should be in 4:3 format, with .jpg, .gif or .png file formats acceptable. The colour mode should be RGB and the maximum size of a single file should be 1 MB.
